Volume 5, Numbers 3 and 4
Description
The Microbicide Quarterly (TMQ)—one of the Alliance's principal publications—focuses on product development, key discoveries in microbicide science, and issues related to clinical trials. TMQ also frequently publishes meeting and conference reports and provides updates on US microbicide policy initiatives.
Since 2003, the Alliance has published 17 issues of TMQ. The current issue, Volume 5, Numbers 3 and 4, is a 6-month “double” issue that reports on a series of conferences of special interest, highlights an emerging “hot topic,” and provides an update on the evolution of the Microbicide Research Working Group. Despite the fact that the conferences reported on in this issue were somewhat disparate, all featured three common themes: the need for an HIV “prevention package,” the critical role of STIs in HIV transmission, and the promise of novel ideas in microbicide science. This redundancy across venues underscores the importance and relevance of these themes, and suggests the need for continued, focused discussion.
