Alliance for Microbicide Development

Projects & Initiatives

In order to fulfill its role as the central source of information on microbicide research and development, the Alliance has undertaken a wide variety of projects and participates in a range of initiatives. Some of these are facilitated directly by the Alliance, while others are worldwide networks of which the Alliance is proud to be a part.

International Advocacy Networks

Alliance staff participate in several advocacy groups that bring together investigators, media representatives, and advocates from across the globe, including the International Rectal Microbicide Advocates and the Microbicide Media and Communications Initiative.

Working Groups and Committees

The Alliance serves as the Secretariat for the Quick Working Group, which brings together investigators involved in late-stage microbicide trials, and the Microbicide Donors Committee, a group that convenes international organizations funding microbicide research and development. The Alliance is also a member of the HIV Vaccine and Microbicides Resource Tracking Working Group.

Policy Initiatives

The Alliance maintains an active policy agenda that includes continued support for the Microbicide Development Act and the Microbicide Branch at the National Institutes of Health.
