Liza Solomon

Dr. Solomon joined the Alliance as the Deputy Director in 2007. Her prior activities included nine years in a senior policy and management position in state government where she served as the Director of the Maryland AIDS Administration under Governor Parris Glendening. Responsibilities and accomplishments included presiding over an annual budget of $54 million, and responsibility for developing and implementing effective policies and programs to meet the State's goals. Dr. Solomon was a Co-Principal and Principal Investigator for the NIH-funded prospective cohort studies (the ALIVE and HERS studies) at the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health. Dr. Solomon also trained and practiced as a Physician Assistant, where her clinical experience included providing family planning and urgent care services. She continues as Adjunct Faculty at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Solomon's research interests include HIV disease among women, the utilization of health services by persons with HIV/AIDS, and quality of care for people with AIDS; she has authored 50 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Solomon received a BS and Physician Assistant Certificate from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and a Masters and Doctoral Degree from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Hygiene and Public Health.
