Betsy Finley
Project Manager
As Alliance Project Manager, Ms. Finley ensures timely completion of publications and other end products emerging from Alliance programs and projects. She is Editor of The Microbicide Quarterly and participates in the HIV Vaccines and Microbicides Resource Tracking Working Group. Prior to joining the Alliance, she earned a BS in Biology with a minor in Spanish from Westminster College. Following her education at Westminster, she was employed as a Science Assistant at the National Science Foundation, in the Division of Integrative Biology and Neuroscience. Ms. Finley now holds an MPH in International Health and Development from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, with a specialization in HIV/AIDS and Infectious Diseases. While studying at Tulane, Ms. Finley spent two months interning at the International Food Policy Research Institute, working on projects related to HIV/AIDS and nutrition, specifically on the relationship between antiretrovirals and nutritional status. A sample of Ms. Finley's international experience includes studying Thailand's response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic while in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. Ms. Finley's particular interest in microbicides lies in the potential for the technology to serve multiple purposes: the possibility of contraceptive action and protecting against non-HIV STIs in addition to HIV itself.
